AUGUST 14 19 Wrote to Herman and mamma. Baked fig bread. Scraped, sand papered, and steel-wooled most of the magazine rack, spending five hours in school house with Hans. Started crocheting third ball of thread for bed spread edge. Missed my first real caller - Mrs. [Haugen?] 1918. Up early and went with "Chesty" Miller to our big garden where he picked corn and I picked a lot of lima beans. Got soaking wet above knees. Went to town for mail, etc. Took beans to canning kitchen for Mrs. Wellington - then helped shell and can them! Took French dress to Mrs. Haines. Wrote to Flo. Made crab butter. 1919. Hans and I drove to garden before breakfast, leaving Hilda asleep. I canned 1 pt. Kidney beans, 1 qt. corn, 1 qt. corn and tomato, 5 qt. tomato and 2 qt. applesauce. HOT. Wrote to Sis and got box of her things ready to return. Baked peanut bread. Home alone all day. 1920. We canned 17 more qts corn. I baked bread. Dr. and Mrs. McIntyre and Albert here in P.M. I canned pint of pickles. 1921. Baked pumpkin pies. Charlie and Beth Obey and 1 1/2 yr. old Pauline came up from Tipton at 11 and stayed till 8:30. We went to Caves in P.M.
