August 24 1917. I baked white and rye bread, the latter really good at last. Canned 2 qt. peas and 2 1/2 of string beans. Finished ironing with canning fire. The school car being finally repaired, Hans and I went to farm, and got 27 cucumbers, the porch swing and cot. Wrote to Hazel Scott. 1918. Up late- can't be helped during a series of Hans' meetings. I made 5 glasses of wild grape jelly and 1 bottle juice, canned 3 qts mixed vegetables and 1 1/2 qt. cold cucumber pickles. Did more ironing and mending. Finished circle letter to and one to Hazel Scott. Letter from Anna. 1919. August also came in night, and I slept rest of night with Amanda. At 9 Hans said to get picnic lunch ready, and at 11 we started to Alsen, going 20 mi. in 45 min. Winfield D. and Keith took big tent out in the new Denison ruck, Amanda coming back with Winfield. Fine picnic grounds. Cool Wind. Hans and I called at Ufford's + Christianson's in evening. 1920. Washing all on lines before 11,- not so bad with it all to do. Mended a few pieces. Keeps me busy with the housework, etc. Letter from mamma. 1921. Canned 3 qt. grape-apple sauce. quite a job. Ironing, mending, etc. Mrs. Snyder here in P.M. She brought Signe her baptism book.
