SEPTEMBER 10 1917. Had last roasting ears, and first celery. Both were fine. I canned 6 qt. sliced tomato pickle. Picked a bushel of green tomatoes, making 2 bu. from our garden. Froze hard, to 8° at 6:00 A.M. Mrs. Noyes and Ethel called. 1918. Still rainy, but had to go to meetings at Centerville and Meckling. Wore out two rear tires. I finished gingham skirt and started tunic of buff chambray, trimmed with stripes, to go with it. wrote to Helen, and walked to P.O. for mail. 1920. Took vacation from canning. Have a mean cold. Mopped my bedroom. Cut out gray outing flannel petticoat for Hilda and seamed it up. Straightened up my desk - a long put-off job. 19
