SEPTEMBER 13 1917. Canned two bottles of green tomato catsup, 12 qts. of green tomato pulp (for future uses) and two pints of plum jam. Did a small washing. Hemmed a selvage edge of the first one of a dozen napkins already hemmed on two sides. Mr. & Mrs. Coggswell and Miss Hutchins of Iowa here in evening. Taught them 500. 1918. Canned three bottles of tomato catsup (red and yellow ones), one bottle soup, and 1 qt. apple butter. Denison's sent in more than 3 bu. wealthy apples. I ironed two hours. Girls helped move in some furniture. Floors look fine. I miss hubby. 1919. Hilda, and in fact, most of us, slept well on train. Arrived in Vermillion at 4:00 A.M. Thune and Lyle Swanson and Ernest Hanson went home with us. All slept till 8. Breakfast for 6. Then Amanda and I did a big washing in P.M. In evening Hans and I walked down town. Hilda weighs 16#, without clothes. August here for supper. Circle letter waiting for me. 1920. Hans drove to Clinton and back from 5:30 to noon. The Banks case may be postponed. I did a big washing by eleven o'clock. Took a nap after dinner, took Hilda in her sulky to meet mailman. Hans brought Olga and Helena from Nashville in eve. Orville came for Olga. 19
