SEPTEMBER 15 1917. Raw morning. Baked white and rye bread, and did a bit of ironing. Mrs. Bryson here in morning. In P.M., Hans, Mr. Stowell and I Forded to cheese factory, where we saw 5000# cheese. Stopped at Becker's, Iverson's (baby a mo. old), and Baker's. I gave new baby a bib I made. We dug our potatoes at farm. 3 bu. We played cards & ate popcorn at Coggswell's in eve. 1918. Hans came home at midnight. We had fine country dinner at C. Christianson's - chicken, pumpkin pie with whipped cream, etc. Drove to Denison's, who were not home. Hans dissuaded me from canvassing. Wrote to Uncle John. Letter from Hazel Scott. 1919. I did most of my part of the ironing, baked bread, fixed up account book to date, etc. Hilda is somewhat spoiled, used to having so many around her. Andell Peterson took her out for a ride after school. Enjoying corn Hans planted in July. 1920. Helena and I canned 13 qt. of grape sauce with Snow apples and 8 qts. grapes cold packed. I baked bread & apple pudding. 5 for dinner and early supper. Took nap. Card from Cousin Emma, visiting in Davenport. Mended.
