SEPTEMBER 17 1917. Baked cake, etc. Wrote to mamma - so warm spent P.M. in porch swing. Hemmed two sides of second napkin. Crocheted in evening. 1918. Canned 18 qt. Wealthy applesauce and 3 bottles apple juice. Hans made a 5 gal. jar of kraut. I spent an hour with Mrs. P.W. Peterson. Hans and I picked beans again till dark. Quite cool. Found some frosted citron leaves. 1919. Washed for baby, baked cookies: in P.M. got at some needed sewing for Hilda: made a hemstitched pillowcase and trimmed it with tatting Helen had sent. Also made her a petticoat from the piece I cut out of old fulton of mine. She had lots of visitors after school. Andell & Helen, Myrtle, etc. 1920. Canned 5 qt. grapes with Northwestern Greening, baked apple pie. Hilda only napped a half hour and kept me from taking mine. She walked beyond wash house. I milked 2 cows, first since Constance went home a month ago. Silo and scaffold fell down at noon before it was all up. 1921. Canned 4 cans small cucumber pickles, and last can of peaches, making 90 qt. peaches. Still mending and fixing over garments. Find a little time for reading "Americans" mamma brought us.
