October 3 1917. Made two quarts of citron preserves, finished ironing. Hans and I called on Mr. and Mrs. O.B. Anderson in evening. They rented furnished rooms at Myers'. 1918. Hans' father went with us to Maquoketa where we made out papers making his 160 A. of Aitkin Co. Minn. land to us. Started from Skotts at 10:45. They gave us walnuts, 1# butter, etc. Letter from Anna Wilson. Stopped half hour at Elijah's. Reached Elmenhurst at 2:00 P.M. 60 miles. Hans and I spent evening at Uncle John's. Herman and C.V. Gregory there, also Sis, Allan, and Beatrice. 1919. Announcements of Mary Lydia Leffler and Elizabeth Marie Riley. Wrote to Sis and to Helena. My brown shoes and coat came from Philpsborn's, but coat was green instead of blue. Cleaned up bedroom. Sewed on Amanda's blue silk dress. Mrs. Brookman called. 1920. Hans and Mr. Warren went to Elwood in A.M. and Hilda and I went for the ride. Cleaned up the three rooms we live in mostly now, as I hadn't time yesterday. Hans' folks here in P.M. We and Adela went to church in eve. We were late. Rev. Snyder back for another yr. 1921. We left Sis' at 7, got home just at noon. Minnie had dinner nearly ready, and house neat and clean. Sis gave us a big mutton roast and lent me several wool stockings, blue bootees, brown slippers, 2 pr. wool knit panties, wool hood etc. for baby. We set up front room stove in P.M., as it is too cool for baby.
