October 10 1917. Hans started gasoline iron for me, but after first hour it gassed so, it went to my head. After dinner, went with Hans, Supt. and Mrs Anderson and Mrs. Day to school 8 miles out on Leonard road for them to begin teaching Ag., H. Ec., etc. Cold and windy. 1918. Rainy in A.M. "Mac" began taking her breakfasts with us- too many soldiers, etc. at cafeteria. I made some citron sauce, did some mending, dusting, etc. I made a bib, edged with pink-and-blue crochet for "Johnny." 1919. A heavy freeze, being the first cold snap of the season. Sunny day. I made most of Hans' brown shirt, went with him to garden for pumpkins. 1920. Rested up some. Harry only here for breakfast. Wrote to Constance, and circle letter. 19
