October 13 1917. Made my last quart of citron preserve, mopped kitchen, cleaned and pressed suit for Hans, and cut and made new lining for his old blue coat. Margaret went to Bemidgi again. Mr. and Mrs. Cogswell here in eve. Men beat us 3 games of 500, but we won a "double noola". 1918. Edith Gallup and I got breakfast for 25 sick soldier "S.A.T.C." boys quartered in one of the temporary hospitals. 85 cases of Spanish influenza in town, tho none serious. No church or other public gathering. August went back to Jasperson's in P.M. I wrote to Hazel Scott. 1919. Damp day. Did my ironing and mending. Amanda sick and missed school. I.B. Johnson of Brookings and Mr. Griggs, who may be Hans' successor, played 500 with us in evening. 1920. Ironed 11 dresses for Hilda, etc. did more mending, cut out and made gray tennis panties for her, except buttonholes. Card from Aunt Minnie. 19
