October 14 1917. A fine day- in spots. I wrote Sis a long letter, and one to Helen. Hans and I went in Ford to Carlson's, Iverson's, and McKinney's, trying to borrow a manure-spreader for school farm. 1918. Canned a pint of wonderberries, baked first all-wheat bread for a long time. Fixed me up an everday dress from old blue jumper by removing fitted yoke. Next-door neighbor Rees has influenza, tho not bad. 1919. Finished last buttonhole for Hans' brown shirt. Put two hand tucks in Hilda's embroidered dress. Crocheted some on her little nightingale. 1920. Ironed spare room curtains and the rest of the ironing, baked prune pudding. Letters from August and Anna. Made 6 buttonholes, and put new blue collar, cuffs, and pockets on old white smock. 19
