OCTOBER 15 1917. Washed Han's sweater and several other pieces, made doughnuts (second batch I ever made, and first good ones!). Got $3 for judging at fair. Sewed lining in Han's coat. We corrected exam. papers in evening. 1918. Ironed 1 3/4 hrs. finishing last week's laundry. Made nightgown of old blue crepe dress, and did other mending jobs. Wrote to mamma. Hans and I finished harvesting early potatoes, onions and beans. 1919. Washed for baby, finishing by 10:00 A.M. but it still is rainy. Ripped up old dark red French serge skirt. Started muslin dress for Florence's baby. Card from Helena. Wrote to her and Helen. 1920. Rainy most of the day. Hans brought load of pigs from Gollobeth's. and Harry home today. I baked bread, and sewed, in forenoon for once. Cut out and made blue & black striped wool batiste dress for Hilda from old one of mine. 1921. Very busy all day - baked 4 pumpkin pies, bread, and birthday cakes, with candles, 12 and 19, for Oscar and Amanda. Cleaned up front room. Laura Seward rode out horseback, in P.M. wearing khaki trousers.
