October 30 1917. I washed dark clothes and a few other pieces. Miss Burgan's demonstration was on meat substitutes. She talked in evening, also Miss Creelman of Univ., on Red Cross work. 1918. Baked rye and cornmeal bread. Little hail in P.M. Cooked 2 qt. citron-cranberry conserve, sealed 1 qt. Letter from Martha Forman. Of 3600 students at I.S.C., 900 are girls. Clouds cleared away about 2:00 P.M. Mrs. Hanson and I went to Ladies' Aid at Swenson's, taking Mrs. Shogren along. Stopped at Greenfield for gas. I drove 14 miles. Wasted evening at hall, as I understood Hans wanted me there. 1920. Baked pumpkin pies and oatmeal cookies, and mopped three rooms. Adela helped Hans all day.
