MEMORANDA 1917. Have seen more sleds and snow already than I did all last winter in Iowa. Winter set in unusually early, even for here. Cellar well stored, vegetables = 100 qt + canned stuff, 5 doz eggs +, a half beef, barrel of apples, etc. 1918. Furnace fires not needed till within the last week. Only one skiff of snow yet. Cellar well stored - more than 300 qt. canned goods, more than 5 tons coal besides briquettes for range, 11 bu. potatoes, 1 + of onions, also of popcorn and of beans, etc. 1919. A very cloudy month, but only a few snowflakes. Cellar not as well stored, as we will move soon. [40?] pumpkins, less than a bushel of potatoes, a bushel of walnuts. Have bushels of beans ready for threshing. 1920. A very mild month, except at very first and last ends. Hilda has played outdoors lots. I have done more canning than any year yet since we were married - 389 1/2 qts. so far. 19
