November 3 1917. August left for Aitkin Co., Minn. + Iowa at 1 A.M. Baked lemon pie and peanut bread. Left lunch here for Carita and Margaret Oftelee, while Margaret S. and we went to Bemidgi at 11. Hans and I had teeth filled by Dr. Stanton. Bought skates for me. Saw Mississippi R. and Lake Bemidgi. Fine day. We came back at 4. Played 500 at Cogswell's in evening. 1918. I wrote to Mrs. John Cogswell. August, Hans, and I went to Theodore Jasperson's for dinner (chicken, etc.) also stayed for supper. Two Fisher couples there, too. In evening, "Mac" played draw pitch with us. Letter from Helena. 1919. Cleaning and straightening up to do. Crocheted on blue house jacket and wrote to Hans' mother. Cold and windy. I dug nearly a bushel of carrots. Baked bread, finishing just before 11:00 P.M! 1920. Finished the ironing; made last tomato castup of season, more than a pint; baked white and graham bread, Adela kneading the white, as my back is quite lame; did some mending. Adela went home after school and I helped milk- late. 19
