November 10 1917. Baked oatmeal bread, pressed trousers for Hans and mended chem. holes in a shirt of his, mopped two floors, blacked a stove; got my knitting needles of Mrs. Hansell. Hans finished his dental work at Bemidgi. Margaret also went to B- I met his train. M. W. Freight came - my birthday Pyrex casserole, vacuum sweeper (Herman's money). Played 500 at Cogswell's. Got circle letter in P.M. Jo has moved to Salt Lake City. 1918. Baked pumpkin pies and quick cinnamon bread! Also took bath and wrote duplicate letters to Olga before going to church. Dr. Thomas preached on faith. Margaret Westling of Riverside Twp., a Univ. freshman, came to room here. Hans and I helped August pick corn across field, I stayed at Jasperson's for supper. 1919. Blizzardy day, but little snow fell-our first. Cut out and made most of rompers for Hilda from old blue mercerized dress of mine. Embroidered on Hilda's coat collar. Wrote to Helen. Hilda crept halfway across the room - backwards. 1920. Clear but cold. Good washday-clothes froze but got dry. Other regular chores and work took rest of day. Hans and Frank begin shingling the shed but find it cold work. 19
