November 14 1917. Letters from mamma, papa, & Sis. A foggy day all day. Washed. Worked an hour or so on tablecloth. Went thru 60 I.H.C. slides on sheep with Hans, identifying breeds. In evening we went north of town to school where Hans talked on sheep, Mrs. Day on food conservation, and Mr. Halvorsen sang. 1918. Did a big ironing, wrote to mamma. Letter from Sis. Fixed belt of dark blue silk dress, so I could wear it to "Round Robin" at Gallup's. I crocheted these on doily. Hans came there for supper, too. I began reading "Michael O'Halloran" by Gene Stratton Porter, I got from library. 1919. Began packing up, packed a barrel of empty glass jars. Burned 10 qts. last year's spoiled corn. Made Hilda nice pair of brown leather shoes and finished her coat. 1920. A snowy Sunday. Light snow fell most of the day, whiting the ground. Hans out most of the day. I was too, a while, then took long nap. Oscar here for dinner. Helped milk in evening, then dressed a rabbit. 19
