November 17 1917. As it is so warm, I canned the rest of the beef - 5 qts. and 2 of soup. The girls went to Bemidgi, Carita coming back at 4:00. Hans and I and Cogswell's went to Hardscrabble Club, in old log school, and I gave "The Quarantine" and ran lantern for Hans's sheep show. 1918. Blustery day. We all three went to church. Letter from Olga she has school & isn't coming here to teach. Herman also is not coming for a while. Margaret came in P.M. in spite of 20 miles of mud. We four played cards. I read in "Mickey." 1919. Ironed and did my mending; patched Ford top, too. Emptied more spoiled corn. Cleaned up dining room after we took the dirty rug out. Wrote to mamma. Mrs. Griggs here in evening. Hilda learned a new stunt - to turn over in her cab. She can rock it. 1920. Ironed, baked quick coffee cake, sewed, napped, began crocheting pink edge on Hilda's old white blanket. Got both circle letters, Quill and Hillside. Roads too rough for me to go to Guild. Hans and his father put siding on shed. 19
