November 19 1917. Up at 5:30. Finished last week's ironing and mending. Hemstitched and pulled threads on 3d side - some in the forenoon, even. Margaret and Helen over in evening. The 6 of us played pitch and hearts. 1918. Canned 1 1/2 qt. pumpkin, baked bread and a pumpkin. I.B. Johnson here for dinner - he bragged it up - then he and Hans went to country, and came back about 11:00 P.M. I finished dimity dress, and cut out small apron from what was left. Walked to town for mail. Wrote to Millie. 1919. Emptied last of 30 qts. old corn and boiled a lot of glass jars and packed a barrel of them, also began packing book box. Made muslin Gertrude for Hilda, sewing knit lace on it. Made white outing nightgown for myself, except fastenings. 1920. Mended and sewed and cooked - as usual. Did Lux washing. Hans and his father began putting in concrete for new part of dairy shed. Fine warm weather for it. Hazel worked P.M. for me, washing windows and cleaning pantry. 19
