December 3 1917. Sunny. I mended Hans' overcoat, etc. Finished crocheting bonnet for Hazel Scott's baby, Ruth. Fitted it on Oversea's grandson. Rather nice not to have boarders. 1918. Cold & cough still bad. I crossstitched design on apron pockets for Beatrice. Hans out all day. Bernice and I have things our own way. Went to bed quite early. Flu again numerous in town. 1919. Our telephone was disconnected in eve. We quite paying rentals Nov 3d. Got our bedding & dishes packed—supper was a pan of beans eaten on boxes. We stayed all night at Oscar Ellefson's, where Hans will room this month. 1920. Fine sunny morning for a change, very dark P.M. and electric rainstorm in evening. I baked bread, dressed and roasted chicken, did a good-sized Lux washing, and a little sewing. Mr. Whitney here for dinner. 19
