DECEMBER 13 1917. -38°. My buckskin moccasins and wool socks, over my stockings, keep my feet warm in house now. I mended Hans' school trousers, visited Chem. Lab. to see the fire extinguisher work. Mrs. Cogswell and I called on Mrs. Noyes, Wright, Reff (not at home) and Stenvick. 1918. Finished ironing in an hour. Finished the mending, including some for August. Made everyday slip from old striped crepe petticoat. Crocheted another pair of skirt-hangers. Took bottle of grape juice to Edna Peterson, who has "flu". Wrote long letter to Edith Bliss. Hans gone to Irene in eve. 1919. Rexall pills killed my cold. Hilda fell out of her cab to hard floor, but didn't get hurt much. I began feeding her half modified Holstein milk and half Horlick's. Seems to agree nicely. I crocheted most of a blue woolen yarn bedroom slipper. -14.° 1920. Foggy, rainy day. We shopped a very little, then left the folks' after 9. Stopped to see Julia and "Dad" Wise at DeWitt. Got home 1:45. Chains on from Welton. Cleaned up house and now packed. Adela stayed over night. 19
