DECEMBER 14 1917. Cold yet. We churned five pounds, which is to be sold. I also began having buttermilk customers. I cut out five light percale aprons, and nearly finished two. Alone in eve, when Hans talked, in Holts on Red Cross. Started Christmas letters. I typed two stories. 1918. Hans didn't get home till 5:30 A.M. - train took him to Burbank! Tho up late, I baked mince pies and cake, cleaned up the house, did a little shopping, and started to embroider doily for Olga. August in in eve. We three and Bernice played "500" till about 1:00 A.M. Started Christmas letters. Wrote to Artie. 1919. Cold. George had his Lizzie going, but rest of us stayed home. Wrote to Frank and Constance and card to Florence. Papa got home yesterday from State Grange at Oskaloosa. 1920. Sunny forenoon. I baked bread and doughnuts, cleaned up our clothes. Crocheted pink picot edge on two handkerchieves. Letter from Helen. Hans and I spent evening at Lafe Scott's. Harry finished plowing sod, last of this year's plowing. 19
