DECEMBER 17 1917. Much warmer. Hung some of my two week's washing outdoors - it dried without freezing. Crocheted in P.M. Can make buttermilk soup "just like mother used to make". Even I like it. 1918. Baked white and graham-rye bread, canned 2 1/2 qts. pumpkin. Worked 3 hrs. in office in P.M., running mimeograph and folding Farm Bureau News. Prof. and Mrs. Tjaden called in eve. H.H. Nininger of Brookings also here in eve. I embroidered. Letter from mamma that Herman and Georgia are to be married Dec. 19 at her sister's at Lake. Benton, Minn. 1919. First morning above zero for several days, Papa and mamma went last night for Princeton Institute. I finished ironing, got the meals. Wrote to Millie, and finished circle letter. Crocheted a little. 1920. Did ironing and mending. Hans made long-planned trip to town. Letters from Constance and Aunt Emma. Crocheted on another pink-edged handkerchief. 19
