DECEMBER 19 1917. Made head cheese, finished ironing. Finished the two collars, one with rose and one with green, finished hdkf. Started off some Christmas packages. Finsihed one apron and most of another. We went to movies "Jim Bludso", benefit of Red Cross. 1918. Still mild and cloudy. Wrote to Aunt Jennie. Embroidered. Started off Christmas packages, popcorn to Cogswell's, and aluminum double boiler to Otto Weidemaun for belated wedding gift. Streets worse than ever. Helena surprised us by coming on the evening train. Oscar Ellifson sent us a red rooster for our Christmas dinner. 1919. Hilda awoke so many times in night, I slept till 9. Mamma and I went to Christmas program at Plum Grove school. Hilda was good, her first time at school. Mariam Wilson is teacher. Got Christmas card from Mabel Crossley. Wrote to Aunt Emma and Mrs. Cogswell. 1920. Sunny Sunday, rather cold. Olga, Orville, Adela, and Amanda (who came last night from Vermillion) here for dinner. Wrote to Helen, and some Christmas correspondence cards. Fell outdoors, skinning my foot badly. 19
