DECEMBER 20 1917. Worked on aprons, finished necktie for George. Warm and mild this week. Wrote to Frank and Aunt Minnie, and a bunch of Christmas cards. 1918. Finished Olga's centerpiece, Helena finishing edge, Embroidered "L" and "F" on h'dk'fs for Leslie and papa. Wrote to mamma. Rained in P.M. and Hans had to give up his picture show at Clay Point. Bernice and "Ted" Thorson played 500 with us in eve. I gave Margaret and Bernice boxes of homemade candy. Margaret's brother came for her in P.M. in their Reo. Aunt Emma sent us $2 for wedding gift, and her photo on postcard. 1919. Slept late again. Did a little mending and crocheting. George's furniture sort of fills up the house. Sent red boottees to Marie Riley. Got wedding photo of Mildred and Gilbert Briggs. 1920. Hans, Amanda, their mother and I went to Maquoketa after early dinner. Left Hilda at Whitney's while we shopped. Spent about $5 for Christmas, from part of case of eggs. Got announcement of birth of Ruth Margaret Briggs. 19
