DECEMBER 21 1917. Went to town and to Cogswell's in forenoon. Made my fifth apron, started on octagonal linen centerpiece for Hans' mother, with roll crochet medallion edge. Cogswell's here "so we wouldn't need to stay in hole over Christmas." 1860 was deepest, quiet at 1840 1918. Baked mock mince pies and hickory nut bread. Helena helped clean up house, etc. Bernice went home in A.M. She and Margaret gave me deck of cards. Mailed doily to Flo, and pkg to Sis' and Hans' folks. Helena and I shopped. Sent Herman pie knife and 6 pie forks. Got his wedding announcement. Rec'd box aster seed from Aunt Minnie, and little yarn bootees and "soap kid" from Anna Wilson. We three printed pictures in evening. 1919. We all went to church (in W.L.) but Hilda was so bad I had to stay in S.S. room with her. At Miller's for dinner. Wrote to Edith Bliss 1920. Snowed some then turned to sleety rain, so everything is covered with ice. Got around too late to get much done. Finished one h'dk'f, made blue-edged one, and began another. Wrote to Myrtle Nelson, 19
