DECEMBER 22 1917. Finished centerpiece. Hans made two desk calendar pads. and we got off our home Christmas packages. Sent youngsters war candy and stuffed dates. Hans and I went in school Ford to farm to cut the spruce we picked out last summer for our tree. Made some trimmings for it. Churned 3 1/2# butter. 1918. We started to trim up a little Christmas tree Hans bought. Wrote to Jo and Bess. Helena and I made marshmallows, pinoche, stuffed dates, and popped corn. Rec'd 2 small doilies from Edna Peterson, and several Christmas cards. Sugar restrictions off, make candy-making possible. 1919. at 9:00 A.M. Papa, Mama, Leslie, Helen, Hilda and I started for Muscatine. Had dinner at Uncle John's new home on East Hill, Saw Cousin Emma, Claus and Walter Schway. Home by 4:30. Got Circle letter and cards from Martha and Hazel S. Wrote to Hans. 1920. Baked bread, wrote to Florence, Emily H. and more cards. Wrapped up packages of Wizard mop for mamma, h'dk'f for Helen, h'dk'fs for Sis and her girls and Mother West Wind book for her boys. 19
