DECEMBER 30 1917. Not bad. We went to church. Read some magazines saved up for a few weeks. We took picture of our Christmas tree. Got $8.78 from Successful Farming for my rye and oats story and Mending Broken China. 1918. Tried to snow a little. I took out our Christmas tree, cleaned up house some, did more mending. Cut patterns off Hans' unionalls, cut him out dark tennis paj-unions, and started sewing them. Fixed him another soft collar. Letter from Helen, Herman and Geogia did spend Christmas at Elmenhurst. Started inventories in new account book in eve. while he went to Meckling 1919. Fine mild day. Got dinner (for 7) while mamma washed, finished my apron, started dress for Hilda from old blue striped gingham of mine. Wrote to Sis. Letter from Hans, with cards from Hazel G., Edith, Norman, Maude Deal Chase, I.B. Johnson's, + Scarbro's 1920. Boiled silverware, cleaned bedroom, mopped linoleum, roasted goose, etc. Amanda, Helena, and Henry Schneider's here for dinner. Visited, finished pink edged h'df for Hilda. Hans took Amanda to evening train at Elwood. Very mild day, thawing. Got wedding photos of August + Anna, and George + Mary. 19
