January 1 1936. 30°. Snow on ground. We left Epworth at 10:40 for Lancaster, Wis. where we unintentionally surprised Walter Schwarz. Also called on Ben Walker's -moving. Turkey for dinner. Home at 8:30. 1937. 30° at noon. Walked home in the New Year from Maxwell's in crisp frosty moonlight. Drove to store for flour; letter from Helen they are not coming tomorrow. Finished Billy Siders' warm play suit. K came home with Beyers from week at Buckhow. 1938. Wasn't up and dressed till noon. Signe roasted the duck Andes gave us, and baked cake + cookies. Reading "Middletown". Brandt's were here in evening. "Bingo", "500", apples, nuts. 1939. Hilda, Signe + I to Trousdale church. I taught Kathryn's + Mrs. Bentley's S.S. classes.
