March 22 1936. At church & SS—5 in class. Ella Warton, Jessie & Madelin Allen here for dinner. At Red Cross mtg. in P.M. & Bessie B., Frances B, Nellie, A. & I worked on Easter program. 1937. Ironed 3/4 hr. to finish—nearly finished me. Mended, typed. Finished rereading "Death Comes to the Archbishop". 1938. Elsie & I in town all day. Had car repaired. Went to Middleton with Mr. [Zernik?]. Saw 3 places—for sale. 1 a beautiful modern house. Out on [illegible] Ave then to Univ. Ice gone on Lake Mendota, etc. 1939. Rheumatism better, but still weak from flu. Made bread, did some ripping on my old black dress for Sig. A beautiful day. Walked for mail 1st time for week. Wrote Hans & Dora. 19
