May 16 9 Did big washing, Signes hanging it. Very windy. I baked angel food; Kathryn cookies. Mopped and mended. Very tired in eve. Grandma Maxwell and Mamie brought us tulips. 9 7 in my S.S. class. Took Hans to Dyersville at 1 A.M. to take Great Western train. Wrote & took news to Mrs. Keyes & Schmendiger, & took cheese to Carlton's. Wrote Amanda. 19 Perfect. Grand wash day. Mended a little, & helped K set out first cabbage & tomato plants. Letters from Hans, Ferd, Mrs. Randell, Mrs. Campbell Oregon, Wis). Wrote Hans; Up to 70° 19 Windy washday. Washed quilt & 3 rugs, too. Letter from Dora, H.S. graduation announcement from Fred Steen. Set out pansies, helped K with rest of strawberry plants & Frank with peck of Early Ohios. Went to chicken supper at Comm. church—too late! 19
