May 29 1936. Made cottage cheese for last training lesson for 4H leaders at Mrs. Wiedner's, Centralia. Took Pauline, Signe, Ruth Pitz & Anna Louise. Hans at farm. 1937. Got up at 2 and drove to Dyersville for Hans. A busy day. We ironed—Baked bread, Hilda a cake; Went to Dubuque in P.M. W.J. Melloy & Estelle here in eve. 1938. To S.S. & church in 2 cars. As Barber's are in Kansas on vacation a retired minister preached. Mr. & Mrs. Shouse here, also Mrs. Otto Miller to give us plat of fruit trees. Girls to E.L. picnic at Devils' Lake. We & Frank to Oregon—bot a goat. Drove around this "square." 1939. Darned 5 pr. hose left from last week. Transplanted cabbage & kohlrabi from K's cold frame, she her eggplants & Hans helped me with a row of raspberry. 19
