July 6 1936. Managed to do the easy end of the washing. Hilda, who came home yesterday with Frank and Hans canned last 3 pt of peas—Hans at farm. 1937, Kathryn and I drove to Madison from 7:00 to 10:30. Hunted up 2 places, Goodkind & Fursch, & Real Estate agt. Kirkpatrick took us to several. At Hadley's for supper and overnight. 1938. Picked 5 qt. raspberries & canned 3 qt., helped Signe iron, canned & shelled 4 qt peas. Frank & I went to Middleton, stopped at Smith's. Rain from 5-6 P.M. Card from Hans; sent him a letter. Wrote George & card to Kathryn. 1939. Frank & I & Mrs. Zentner spent A.M. in Madison. I took shot at Quisling Clinic. Hottest yet, 97° at 4:30 but I felt stronger. Hemmed 1 plaid drape, varnished 2/3 of my bedroom floor, & slept on studio couch. 19
