September 9 School in full swing—Hans brought his mother about 8, for breakfast; also a quarter of our last Angus baby beef. Cooked quite a bit, sent rest [to?] creamery refrigerator. Hans got me bu. apples from Waechter's & went back to farm. Hist mother & I went to Ladies' Aid election & supper at church. Hilda washed windows, I gave final cleaning to my room. Took Signe & K to register at Madison East High. Head Bishop Hughes at opening session of conference. Lunch near Lake Mendota. After napping, etc. Hilda & I went to Madison [for?] dress goods for her and Signe, etc. Rained. Mended & made 6 jars peach jam. Wrote Helen. 56°. Girls & I did a lot of house cleaning. Signe made bread, I cherry pies. She went to Prairie du Chien with [Henods?] Canned 7 1/2 qt. peaches. [Velma?] took care of small girl in eve in Trailer Town.
