SEPTEMBER 10 1936. Mother Skott peeled and canned 13 qt. apples. Had a real vegetable supper for once, including fresh asparagus, lima beans, spinach, tomatoes. 1937. Mopped and cleaned Frank's room. Rain. Water in pipes again. Canned 2 qt. tomatoes, 2 qt. apples juice and 4-1/2 qt. apple butter. Hilda driving, I went to McFarland and to Brandt's. She drove alone for 1st time -she and Signe to Luther League at McFarland in eve. 1938. Canned 2 qt. tomato juice and 3 small jars grape jam. Hard rain in night. K baked bread and cookies. Hilda made green blouse. Finished ironing and getting clothes dry. 5 inches rain in less than [illegible]. 1939. 6 in my S.S. class. Several callers in P.M. - Parman's, Prof. Roberts', and Lemcke's. To C.E. with the kids in eve. "War or Peace?" 19
