SEPTEMBER 17 Canned 5-1/2 qt. mincemeat, 3 qt. apple butter, and 7 qt. applesauce. We both took naps. Fresh asparagus for supper. Cold morning. Nice sunny day. Canned 1 qt Greenings and 2 pt. tomato-apple preserves, baked bread. Mrs. Finkelson called, Mrs. Taylor informed me they are to have all our apples! Slept well but had a dizzy sick headache, worst I've had for years. Did nothing till late [illegible], then picked out cup of hickory nuts for Kathryn's cookies, shelled pt. of seed snap beans, lengthened Kathryn's plaid dress. Crocheted 4 rows on buffet scarf. Wrote Luella Ruff. Rainy P.M. and eve and "far into the night". On time for S.S. 4 in class. Took Ruth and K in for Freshman tea at [Pres.?]. Dykstra's. Air mailed letter to Hans. [illegible] and Velma were dumped off Marvin Z's bicycle by auto driver who "couldn't see them"
