OCTOBER 6 1936. Not so good a washday as yesterday. Made cottage cheese and in P.M. took Mrs. Susan Maxwell, Mrs. Kline and Mrs. Thos Hinde to birthday party - Mrs. [illegible]. 1937. Hans left at 6 for rest of week in N.E. Ill. I canned 5 qt. grape applesauce 1 grape jam, 2 juice and 4 qt. tomatoes. 33 for me this mo. Wrote Helen. 1938 Cleaned entry, baked bread. Walked to main road, rode on 1 o'clock bus to Madison, bought shoes and hat, went to Ladies' Aid at Trousdale. Was put in charge of calendar. Was one of several honored birthday guests. 1939. Went in with girls; called on Mrs. McKenzie and Mrs. Eaton; and Mrs. Hozard at WHA to change my date; got new shoes and purse. Hans home - in surprise - Letter from Elsie and Hilda. 19
