OCTOBER 15 Canned 2 qt. pears and 4 qt. eggplant. Baked bread, ripped up black coat. Fine sunny day. Sunned plants outdoors. Cooked last beets from garden. Washed for 1st time since May! Nice day. Canned 1-1/2 qt. sandwich spread. Mended. Hilda home - no school today. She sewed. Hans working in Dane Co., was chauffeur. Dressed chicken, baked cake. Finished my nightgown, ripped up Signe's blue suit-skirt, took up [pansy?] plants, picked several lovely bouquets. Hans came home in eve from month in Michigan, brought roses, chicken and walnuts from farm. Windy. S.S. and church. Bob here in P.M. We took him home. Took Guild books to Mrs. Kelley. Velma gave my hair fingerwave.
