OCTOBER 21 19 Canned 4 qt. pears - put in new pane in hall window. Baked bread. WHMS at Sarah [last name]'s in P.M. At Lillian Maxwell's in eve to plan for work of our Aid division. Maybe a play. 19 Washed, tho it was cloudy and raw. Two letters with 6¢ postage each! 7, and one from Helen about her western trip, and Aunt Jennie's family story. I [illegible] we are descendants of Peter Stuyvesant! 19 Swept cellar, Hilda's room. Signe and I went to DeForest and found she only needed glasses straightened. Girls and I to movies at Pheasant Branch school in eve. Heavy white frost, tho didn't hurt flowers. 19 Jay and "Peter Dick", Hans and I left at 6:15 in "Mabel", their '37 Pontiac, drove around Chicago [illegible] mi. S. then thru Ind. and to Greenwich overnite. I drove 25 of our 506 mi. Lunch enroute. Supper at Willard, O. 19
