OCTOBER 26 1936. Baked bread and cake, dressed a chicken for Berean banquet (tho none of us went), canned 11th qt. peas, pressed trousers, etc. First hard freeze. 1937. Washed in little more than 2 hrs. Wrote to Elsie Steen, taking nurses' training in Univ. of Minn. Mended, worked on new bathroom rug (crocheted). Mild, but cloudy. 1938 Hans left for Minnesota, taking along 6 pumpkins, carrots from our garden. I went with him as far as Mt. Horeb, where I attended my first WFMS convention. Met John Swan. U. student from India. Hot coffee spilled down my back at noon. Came home with Mrs. Roberts. Letter from [Emily?] and [from?] Mrs. Randall. 1939. An Iowa girl, M.A. and I went thru Bureau of Engraving and Dept. of Justice. I called on Grace K in P.M. Letter from Hilda, cards from home. We and Whitson's to N.Y. on 5:00 P.M. B & O train. Crossed from Jersey side on ferry. Taft Hotel 19
