Fling * * * 5 do the work of seven as well. * What would we do without the Personal Ads? Here's one from the August 1945 Writer's Digest: "Physician, age 32, Chinese, possesses property in both countries, desires a sincere educated young lady as collaborator in chemical and medical ambition. Only those desiring companionship and early marriage with Kodak full figure picture will be promptly answered." You're outta luck, bub. All nice girls know that Kodak full figure pictures aren't to be trusted. * Now for a shot at Lowndes. This classic was in the last Vanguard Amateur: "Apologies to Norman F. Stanley for our having listed him in the last VA as Norman A. Stanley. We were obviously thinking of Norman A. Knight, one of our favorite scribes in the pseudo-science fiction field. The error has been corrected." And what, might I ask, were you thinking of when you wrote the apology, Doc old boy? * I was fortunate in discovering this one in time. It isn't exactly a deviation, except from the path of good neighborliness between Eleventhouria and Furopia. From the second discrete, by little awful Emden: "'Apologies to Norman F. Stanley for our having listed him in the last VA as Norman A. Stanley. We were obviously thinking of Norman A. Knight, one of our favorite scribes in the pseudo-science field.' (Lowndes in Vanguard Amateur, Notes, No. III) Norman L. Knight? Oh, obviously." I saw it first, dammit! May all your children be science-fiction fans and grow up to marry Kodak full figure pictures, Emden! May you never have even a teeny-weeny little private hell of your own! May you never attain a maximum speed of 45 miles an hour, or get seven letters in your crossword puzzle for the price of six. I hate you! (And besides, who ever heard of Norman L. Knight?) CHAMELEONA i've never seen a purple soul perhaps i'll never see one but though mine once was black as coal though ghu it's sure to be one - lazarus Apparently The New Yorker isn't interested in the fact that since a couple of days after the bomb news there has been an Atomic Envelope and Printing Company on East 17th Street, practically next door to damon knight, so you get the information here free of charge. You're welcome, and call again.
