PSFS MAR-AP reports from members and recent visitors indicate that the Phila-delphia Science Fiction Society is fast becoming a contender for the role of leading fantasy club. Paid up memberships are increas-ing, meetings are consistently well attended, and a successful program of talks and discussions is under way. The recently acquired clubroom is actually a three-room apartment with bath. It has been furnished and redecorated, with the stf and fantasy theme contributed by original paintings and drawings and a small club library. It is supported by the club treasury and regular rent payers. Recent programs have included a talk on fake Egyptology by de Camp, Benson Dooling's "Incubi and Succubi", and talks by James Williams and Nilton Rothman about rare book collecting and amateur journalism. Two new attendees last Sunday were a reporter from a local news dispenser and a late arrival who said his name was Smith and that de Camp had sent him. The latter was finally recognized as George O Smith, the ASTOUNDING author. Having taken a job in Philly, he expects to be there indefinitely. He will be one of the speakers at the coming Philco and continue as another local fan celebrity. CHANGES OF ADDRESS Chandler Davis, 16 Highland St, Cambridge 38, Massachusetts. Vernon D Hodges, c/o Santa Fe RR Station, Hanford, California. Harry Stubbs, 7 Story Street, Cambridge 38, Massachusetts. FAN CLUB FORMING CD-TS Chan Davis is attempting to re-vive the Boston Strangers Club. A meeting is to be held Sunday, 6 Oct, with Harry Stubbs as host. With no officers, constitution, or organization of any kind, for-mal organizing will take place at this meeting. Hoped for members are Bob Swisher, Art Widner, Chan Davis, Harry Stubbs, and Arseni Karpovitch, as well as any other interested persons in the area. All are invited to attend at this meeting or contact Chan Davis so they may have a voice in plans of the revived club. (See ADDRESSES) A new fan club is being started in the Wichita, Kansas area with Telis and James Streiff, William Eldred, E A McKinley, and perhaps Edwin Sigler as charter members. PROFESSIONAL PUBLISHING FJA-FTL L Jerome Stanton, ASTOUNDING article writer, is assistant ed-itor to Campbell on AIR TRAILS and ASTOUNDING August Erleth has written that "West India Lights", H S Whitehead collection, should be out by the end of this month. Three more of Arkham's scheduled books are all ready and waiting for the press, and should be out by the end of November. these are van Vogt's "Slan", "Fearful Pleasures" by A E Coppard, and H R Wakefield's "The Clock Strikes Twelve". Two more books are to be ready by the end of the year. The Random House anthology has already gone over the 20,000 mark in sales and is going into its third printing, according to the latest report from McComas. It may be a top-seller of the year.
