RAMBLINGS Although it was announced at the Philcon that the two prospective fantasy publications from Avon had been dropped, Wollheim states that they have been only temporarily shelved due to difficulties with the printers. They will be issued at a later date. In response to an inquiry concerning further informa-tion on the "O'Connor Affair". Ben Abramson informs us that several NYC book dealers are discussing banding together and engaging the same attorney for their suite. Sept. 7th August Derleth spoke before a meeting of the Eastern Science Fiction Assoc. At the election held Sam Moskowitz was reelected Director. 75 person attended including out of town visitors: Bob tucker, Forrie Ackerman, Don Wollheim, Hannes Bok, Ron Clyhe, Stan Mullens, Tom Grans and others. Bob Peterson is now at home at: 1308 South Vine, Denver(10) Colorado. Willametta Turnepseed, prom-inent in NAPA affairs i now a Mrs. She is now at: Willametta Keefer, Rt 5 Box 208, Roanoke, Virginia. Serving as a "Master of Ceremonies" Ellery Queen introduces 20 members of the Mystery Writers of America in an anthology of favorite mystery stores titled MURDER BY EXPERTS. It is from Ziff-Davis at $3.50. Among the tales is Thomas Burke's "The Hands of Mr. Ottermole." The collection is a "crackerjack". Due to delays in lithographing the photos for the PHILCON MEMORY BOOK the deadline for acceptance of fmz for inclusion in that publication has been extended to Oct. 15th. According to word just rec'd from Georges Gallet, he plans a flying trip to the U.S. early in 1948. He says, "...nothing short of a world commotion will stop us from going." One condition may prevent the trip and that is further inflation of the franc. Georges is having a harder time making a living than even we in the U.S. He now holds several jobs and man-ages to do a little better than "get by". ((We've got two jobs ourselves and we think going is tough. WD)) Georges expects to spend about one month in NYC and the surrounding area. "V", which has the honor of having Gallet for science editor, is preparing an almanac which will feature several stf items. Among them a short story by Jacques Spitz "Interplanet-ary Don Juan". Georges is editing the publication.
