Chicago 17; Illinois 12. Purdue 42; Ohio 20. Grinnell 22; Drake 19. Nebraska 28; Washington 13. Simpson 37; Cornell 19. This Week's Games Ames at Iowa. Simpson at Cornell. Penn at Iowan Wesleyan. Kansas Aggies at Drake. Northwestern at Chicago. Wisconsin at Illinois. Purdue at Minnesota. Indiana at Ohio State. Iowa City and Cedar Rapids will hoop up in a fast prep game on the Little Hawkeye floor Friday night. This game will go a long ways toward determining the best team in the state. The Tigers won from Marshalltown Saturday by a score of 27 to 16. Simpson and Coe will battle for the Iowa conference title at Coe Friday night. Simpson downed the Coe five at Indianola and dope favors them in the coming tilt. Simpson defeated Cornell easily while Coe nosed out a one point victory. Michigan has a bright outlook for another fast track squad and already the Wolverines are planning on taking the Conference meet. Johnson is their star athlete. Grinnell maintained its record of never having been defeated by a Drake five when they won from the Bulldogs in a five minute overtime contest Saturday night. Crane, Scarlet forward, ran wild in the extra period and scored a pair of ringers and a victory. Coach Zuppke of Illinois has begun spring football practice. Gold footballs were given to this year's champion eleven. Prospects are roseate for another winning team as most all of this year's team will be back in the fall. Illinois has but a month in which to whip its track team in shape for the dual meet with Notre Dame. Coach Gill says that the war has caused a dearth in track material. The Iowa conference basketball race is a tangled affair with Coe, Iowa Wesleyan, and Simpson in the running. Iowa Wesleyan has played but one conference game but they must be classed as a possibility. They will meet Simpson later in the season. Iowa has the honor of being the first team to have been ahead of the Gophers in a game this season. The Hawkeyes were two points ahead for a time in the second half. Cotton caged six baskets. Captain Berrien did not play for some unknown reason. Chicago still wins basketball games, Illinois being forced to bow to the Maroons. It looks as though Iowa were the team to knock in the Maroon hopes for a championship. Oss and Kingsley of the Gophers, Gorgas of the Maroons, and Markley of Purdue were high scorers in the week end games. Oss rang up seven goals, Kingsley and Gorgas four, while Markley rolled in seven against Ohio. ADVERTISED LETTERS MEN Austin, Harry Bassett, Cloyse Benson, Fred C. Burns, B.I. Carpenter, Virgil M.
