Smith, Ruth Rogers and Charlotte Wickman are in Des Moines this week end. They attended a luncheon which was given Saturdey at the Harris Emery tea-room for the daughters and nieces of the Iowa legislators who are college women. Covers were laid for twenty-four. Members of Alpha Xi Delta sorority were entertained by their pledges at a party Thursday evening. Elizabeth Cotton of Mason City and Mrs. W. Foster of Vinton are visiting at the Pi Beta Phi house. Prof.. S. W. Geiser of Upper Iowa university visited his sister Rosine over the week end. Miss Geiser will accompany Professor Geiser to her home in Independence where she will spend the coming week. Lulah Bennett B. A. '18, instructor of home economics at Chariton, is visiting friends here over the week end. Alpha Delta Pi announces the pledging of Luella and Ruth Wilson of Seymour. The Music Study club met Friday evening at the home of Mrs. D. O. McGovney on Summit street. Prof. R. A. Kuever left Friday for Chicago where he will spend the week end. Isabelle Blodgett of Mason City is visiting at the Tri-Delt house. Leta Morrison and Marguerite Stamm of Des Moines are visiting at the Gamma Phi Beta house. Sigma Chi entertained at a dinner dance at the chapter house Saturday evening. Chaperones at Varsity Friday evening were Dr. and Mrs. J. Ward and Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Shrader and Saturday evening were Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Ries. Mary Anderson, Alpha Xi Delta, is attending the national student conference at Evanston this week end. Delta Sigma Delta announces the pledging of Claude P. Richards of Corydon. Dr. Norris A. Brisco was absent from the city Friday. Toms LITERARY SOCIETIES HOLD JOINT MEETING Zetagathian and Hesperia held their annual joint meeting Friday night, in the women's gymnasium. The first part of the evening was devoted to a joint program. Zetagathian's orchestra opened the entertainment with two or three selections, followed by several Indian songs sung by Miss Romola Latchem, who was dressed in the costume of an Indian maiden. A very clever mock trial was the principal feature of the program. The remainder of the evening was devoted to dancing. About sixty persons were present. Mildred Whitcomb, editor-in-chief of The Daily Iowan, is spending the week end in Des Moines. I. W. A. A. will entertain at a Washington party Wednesday evening at the Women's gymnasium. H. A.
