TRUSTEES TO ELECT DAILY IOWAN EDITOR Applications for the offices of editor and business manager of The Daily Iowan are being made to Prof. C. H. Weller, University editor, and chairman of the board of trustees. Election of these officers will take place at the next regular meeting of the board, Tuesday, June 3. At that time the old board will retire and the newly elected trustees will take office. Members of the board of trustees will then be: Prof. C. H. Weller, chairman, Dr. E. M. McEwen, Dr. E. S. Smith, Mary Anderson, Marian Dyer, Dorothy Lingham, and Earl Wells. Mary Anderson is the only former member of the board retaining office. Marian Dyer was elected last spring to serve during the present school year but entered the employ of the United States food administration and consequently could not serve as trustee. Retiring members of the Iowan board are: Alice Hinkley, Gretchen Kane, and M. Elizabeth Hendee. BRAINERD RESIGNS FROM LITERARY COMMENCEMENT The Iowan has a letter from O. H. Brainerd to the literary societies in which he states that he feels he can no longer assume charge of the commencement exercises of the literary societies. With the arrangement of six commencement programs to his credit, Mr. Brainerd believes that the literary societies should henceforth place plans for the programs in the hands of a joint committee and thinks that the societies should retain their part in commencement functions but should hold the program before many of the members have left for the vacation. He suggests the last meeting of the year as a better date than Alumni Day which has formerly been the date for the societies' graduation ceremony. Mr. Brainerd thanks the societies for their cooperation and offers his counsel at any time it is needed.
