And yet Ben's high ideals, good character, would be known and an inspiration to oh so many fewer people than a good athlete. Good character and fine ideals are much more common in the fraternity and classrooms than among athletes. It is much more difficult to cling to your convictions when surrounded by the defaming circumstances, mental influences and general atmosphere and publicity of the athletic setup. Inasmuch as manifestation of such characteristics is the only return a man animated by the desire to help worthy students & prospective good
