I should think a mild study of such writings would serve to order and discipline your thinking somewhat but certainly not prove the universal catalyst for the turbid waters of logic and reason. Mathematics also provides a fertile field for mental gymnastics and development of logic. But that there is a close correlation between intensive study of calculus and clear and concise reasoning on practical problems in later life, I seriously doubt. The important thing, it seems to me, is to study both of these fields enough to start you on the right track - the processes of scientific logic, etc., and then eagerly to turn to the current problems facing your locality, your state, nation and world today.
