The most important thing - and I am sure I am right - is to maintain an active, alert interest in everything going on about you. Analyze and think for yourself. Read and listen only insofar as it stimulates and aids your own thinking. Don't read and parrot back in the language of another; don't think and explain thru the already formed concepts of someone else all the time. Don't be afraid to grasp, develop and expound your own ideas. "An expert is often just a glib fellow away from home." Be alert; inquire, question, read, discuss, understand.
