This evening Tom and ux had us over for dinner, which we had down at the UP station, in the dining room side this time. Usually we take the counter where the same victuals are available at 2/3rds the cost. It is fine that mother is to be the next reader at he church. Altho I was away for the election, it was a very strong feeling that I had in regard to her selection, so it was not a surprise to me. I have no doubt that she will make a strong reader. Later this, Friday I believe, we go over to Wycoff's for dinner, at which time he and Mrs. Patton will give mother and Mr. Stilling some pointers on the job which will engage their attention for the next three years. That looks like quite a stretch, tho it always is over before you realize it. Wycoff and Mrs. Patton have been about the best pair that I have ever listened to. Did you know that I have been serving as assistant auditor at the Reading Room? We go over the books once a month, and next month we shall review the years operations and prepare the annual report. I had a card from Jimmy Fay informing me of his impending broadcast from Cedar Rapids, but did not see it until me return home last Friday. Therefore I did not hear his remarks, which perhaps you did. It appears that I shall not have any business down your way, which is disappointing to me. Parhaps I can arrange a junket some time later in the spring. It was my hope that I would be asked to attend some annual meeting within driving distance of IC, like the proposed trip to North English which was cancelled. Next best is the fine correspondence that we have been having. Your letters have been full of interest and very satisfying to us. Perhaps you find that letter writing, like most other activities, is mostly a habit. We think it is a very nice one. You recently enclosed a picture of Louise and her new vir. Did you make some acknowledgement to her, or to whomever sent it? I suppose that you finally got around to answering Fred and Ted's letters? I am almost as bad, as I owe letters to Butler and to Bill, and have been "trying" for weeks to get the job done. Maybe I can handle it this week, but when I return from Ames there will be a bunch of mall that will require somewhat immediate attention, and we are booked for Friday evening with Saturday night requiring somehhat early bedtime in order to be alert for church. I have had the longest stretch of church going this winter that has ever been my experience. Hardly a miss. This must cease as I shall need to build up abit for the drive to Ames, so Love Pop
