[Feb. 26,1939] Nile C. Kinnick, Jr. Phi Kappa Psi House Iowa City, Iowa Sunday Feb 26 Dear Family: This morning we initiated 14 of "the best freshman on the campus" into the mysteries of our fraternity. The whole proceedings was mildly impressive, but most of a certainly a long drawn out affair. The initiation day dinner we held at noon went off very well and the speech given by one of our alumnus on this campus, Dr. Geo. Stewart, head of the Physics Dept., was exceptionally fine. The stewardship of this fraternity seems to include also the offices of treasurer, secretary, and general object of all "gripes." Hence you can see that this initiation means a lot of work for me in getting the newly initiated members on the roll call of the
